[011//Audio & Commentlog] More 4th wall fun :D
K--Kairi!
[Riku sounds surprised, but also excited. What has he found?]
You've got to come see this. Deck 12--around the left side of the luggage.
[Riku's on the luggage deck, off to one side sitting on the floor. Scattered around him is an entire collection of interesting things, including a bunch of Disney movies--but what -Riku's- looking at is a game. Yeah, he's holding Kingdom Hearts I and II, and is staring at them both. There's a PlayStation 2 nearby, and you can bet he's planning on figuring out how to play these things.
What in the -worlds- has he found here?]

... This cat isn't very friendly.
[Ooh! It's a big battle! It doesn't take Kairi nearly as long to get the hang of this one. It's mostly jumping around, hitting the thing as much as possible when it falls down, and steering clear of the fire.]
I won!
[And she hands off the controller while she waits for her delicious cut-scene reward.]

[Still, he sits through it, bottom lip chewed upon as the game version of himself locks the keyhole. Out pops the gummi piece! And onto a new world is it? I think so.]
Uhh... Did I go to the Jungle or the Coliseum next... [He ponders over it for a moment, but in the end, Deep Jungle it is. He sighs.]
It was totally Donald's fault. [Crash. He winces again. Yeah. That had hurt like a mofo. Stupid treehouse.]

[For the most part, Riku's not piping up too much throughout this level, though he -does- give another eyebrow lift when Sora's hallucinating Kairi again. Jeez, man. Even if Kairi's heart -was- within yours, that's just getting ridiculous.
He -does- notice how Sora tells Tarzan that he's looking for both him and Kairi, though. And for a moment, he starts to question things.
But then they're moving on and Sora's finding the slides around the campsite, and for some odd reason one of them seems familiar.
Riku nudges Kairi.]
Was that because of you, then?
no subject
[Kairi grins. She might've failed piloting in the game, but Sora crashed for real. When Riku speaks, she nods.]
I think so. I - heh - That place is a lot like home.
[Though home never had hippo-stepping-stones, or a tree-house full of gorillas.
It's hardly surprising when Clayton turns out to be a bad guy. Well, Kairi isn't surprised.]
He's... Not a very good liar.
[A snake? Really?]
no subject
He is. I didn't like him from the start. He's just reaaaally creepy, in my opinion. [Well. Sure he'd gone along with Tarzan and Jane, but still. Never did like him.]
[He hands the controller off to Riku, once Clayton was over and done with. He can play next.]
no subject
What is this? Why are they back in Hollow Bastion? Riku's getting a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. He'd managed to avoid telling Kairi about his hand in Maleficent's plots, even -through- when he was cursed to tell the truth. Is it all about to come out here?
But luckily for him, he's safe. He can't be seen, they can't know that he's the one who brought Alice into the room. Riku relaxes, but it shouldn't be too noticeable.]
All right, I guess I'm doing the last world then.
[Ready set let's fly to Olympus Coliseum!]
no subject
But Riku is already beating up barrels and then-]
Hey! Wasn't he here?
[Blue flames for hair? That can't be good news. And Sora's taking a games pass from him?]
Sora!
[She sounds exasperated, but she's still grinning. He should know better than to take stuff like that.]
no subject
Ah.. Eheh. Yeah.. I didn't know he was a bad guy. [Don't blame him for being gullible. Blame him for being airheaded.]
[But on to the next part! Oh hey.]
It's Cloud! Man, he looks different now-a-days...
no subject
And the fact that he produced an entry pass out of nowhere didn't tip you off at all?
[Common sense. Ohh, how he would like to pound some of it into that thick skull of yours, Sora! But continuing through the preliminaries, and HEY CERBERUS WHAT'S UP.
And guess what, Riku's dead. CERBERUS IS A HARD BATTLE OKAY?]
no subject
Heh, you can take this one.
[He's already survived it once, right?]
no subject
Gee, thanks Kairi. [He grumbles. But HEY LOOK he beats it in one go. Go Sora!]
[Back to Traverse Town it is! Doop Doop, Twice through the Gummi trail, because ugh it's hard.]
no subject
Riku stares. And then -sniggers-.]
Very smooth.
[Wow. That's special.]
no subject
[Cloud's looking for his light... All of these conversations would probably seem like far less coincidental if Kairi didn't know how this ended. As it is, Kairi just smiles and avoids looking at anyone.
That is, until game!Sora and friends run headfirst into a grate.
She laughs. It is pretty funny.
There's some talking with Leon, then some walking and talking with Cid.]
He gave you a book?
[She looks confused; Cid repairs books? Best do as he asks and take it to Merlin.
Except they don't make it to Merlin. A scene starts as soon as they make it to the third district.]
no subject
Yeah. That's Pooh's book! [OHBOI. Does that mean they get to go visit Pooh and the others?!]
[..Nope. Cutscene! Sora practically bounces onto his knees.]
Look, look! It's Riku!
no subject
[Hey, he remembers this part~ But Riku doesn't sound excited when he responds.]
Yeah, yeah, it's me. You should know this already, you blockhead!
[The scene is normal at first, but the tension builds quickly. He remembers it: he'd found Sora--he'd found the first of his two missing friends. Maleficent had promised to help him find both Sora and Kairi, and sure enough, he'd found Sora. Everything seemed to fit! Only then the Keyblade had come up.
Maleficent had warned him about that, warned him that the worlds changed people and that he might not like what he'd find. He hadn't believed her--surely Sora was just as hopeless as ever. But no, they'd been to several different worlds and he'd -seen- them in Wonderland. "I never would have guessed." And then Sora's new friends don't want him along--and that had been more than enough for him.
He's not entirely gone when Goofy makes the announcement of his departure. He was actually still nearby, curious to know how Sora would react. One last chance, maybe. But Sora blows that, too, brushing it off with a simple "Oh, well."
Sorry, Sora. You've just proven to him (game him? Real him? Who even knows) that what Maleficent had been telling him was right.]
no subject
That... That had not gone well. The impulse to knock their heads together for the whole thing is overridden by a wave of sympathy. Kairi's had more than one conversation recently which has turned into a complete and total misunderstanding.]
So that's why...?
[Kairi falls silent and looks between them. Should she really put the tension that's been hanging about them into words? No. Instead she tries to think of something to bridge the gap, but a moment later she's glaring at Maleficent on screen.]
She's-...
[Kairi doesn't have words appropriate for what Maleficent is. Instead she clenches her fists on her knees and watches.]
no subject
[Sora's bottom lip is gone again, stuck between his teeth as he gnaws upon it. He remembers this encounter. He'd been so.. deflated, when Riku left. When he just up and vanished. He hadn't said anything, but he had been more than a little upset at Donald for doing that. There really was no problem with him coming along, but.. Back then, he hadn't been as close with those two as he was now.
But hindsight is a great thing. Kairi's reaction is a little more eye-catching anyway. Maleficent. Even Sora is cringing, brows heaving in the center of his forehead, eyes down.]
She was annoying to defeat, I'll say that much. [But it would be quite a while to do that.]
no subject
When Kairi makes poses her cut-short question, Riku can't help but snort quietly, derisively. He's not even looking at the screen--Kairi, you haven't seen -anything- yet. Just wait.
And then Maleficent's onscreen, and even looking away from the screen as he is he can't miss her reaction. He speaks under his breath, quietly, nudging her almost imperceptibly, though he's -still- not looking back. Sorry, Sora, this is something he doesn't want you hearing.]
It was nothing, Kairi. Don't worry about it.
[And then louder, slightly impatient, as though by pushing forward he can make them forget the scenes they've just seen:]
Are we done here? Let's move on.
no subject
[Kairi gently takes the controller from Sora and walks game!Sora up to the bell tower. Another crash-trinity and three tolls of the bell later, and the keyhole's revealed.]
Hey, didn't we already beat this one?
[No, apparently not. Kairi frowns; since when does switching your hands with your feet bring you back to life?
She's actually not doing too badly against the second Guard Armour. She manages to get three of its limbs and is chasing the fourth when suddenly, it turns into a canon and shoots her.]
