[011//Audio & Commentlog] More 4th wall fun :D
K--Kairi!
[Riku sounds surprised, but also excited. What has he found?]
You've got to come see this. Deck 12--around the left side of the luggage.
[Riku's on the luggage deck, off to one side sitting on the floor. Scattered around him is an entire collection of interesting things, including a bunch of Disney movies--but what -Riku's- looking at is a game. Yeah, he's holding Kingdom Hearts I and II, and is staring at them both. There's a PlayStation 2 nearby, and you can bet he's planning on figuring out how to play these things.
What in the -worlds- has he found here?]

Yeah, c'mon, Kairi, it was a joke. Right, Sora?
[His tone doesn't sound convincing at all, but look--he's even asking Sora to back him up! He's being civil! That's gotta count for something, right?]
no subject
[That's right! She's supposed to be playing the game. What a convenient excuse not to make eye contact with either of them!
Racing Riku is much easier this way than in reality. She's not doing too badly until she gets stuck behind the break-water near the water-tower. The score: 2 to 0.
She sticks her tongue out at Riku then hands the controller over to Sora.]
Your turn.
no subject
Oh, hey thanks, Kairi. You made me lose again!
[He whines, no real heart in it. He couldn't be mad at her if he tried, anyway. But alas! His final turn to play! And now... There's a storm. He remembers that. The storm that stopped them from sailing away. He'd left already, and there's a slight pang as he hears his mother's voice. S'been a while since he checked in with her. Oops.
But he's back on the island again!]
Yeah.. Did you guys go out to the Island too? Cause of the storm...?
no subject
Riku's not even thinking about the storm right now. He's a little bit surprised--he remembers that day on the islands. He remembers finishing up the raft, making sure all the provisions were properly stored, ensuring that everything would be ready for their departure the next morning... he'd been doing that while the sun was setting.
While Sora and Kairi had their talk, apparently.
And it's -strange-, really, strange to hear Kairi exclaim that the two of them should take the raft and go, that they should leave him behind. But she has to be joking... right? There's no way that she would have left him behind.
Right?
So Riku doesn't answer Sora's question--but not because he won't speak to him. This time, it's because he's reeling from surprise and confusion.]
no subject
All she had known - or was it felt? - at the time was that everything was changing, and that it had left her afraid and confused.
A glimpse of Riku's expression tells her all she needs to know, but the game's moving on and so is Sora.]
Hmm? Oh.
[She nods, and then shakes her head. Her smile's gone.]
No, not because of the storm. Well, you'll see.
[She hadn't given the raft a second thought. She had gone straight for their secret place.
She nudges Riku and tries to catch his eye.]
no subject
He didn't even bother searching the islands. He'd gone straight there. He knew what was waiting. And it made his brow knit in the middle of his forehead.
He didn't say anything.]
no subject
And even in spite of his uncertainty, he -does- glance her way at that one.]
What... happened?
no subject
[Gave? No. That wasn't right. She certainly hadn't meant to do it. It had been far from a pleasant experience.]
I lost my heart. And Sora caught it. He didn't know.
[And despite herself, she manages a weak smile. As unpleasant as it was, even to watch, it had all turned out alright. Well, almost.]
no subject
But he trudges on.
Because I'm a derp, pretend he already did the keyblade bit fffuuu.]no subject
It's the same Heartless we fought in the dream.
[Huh. Now -that's- odd.
They beat this one with about as much difficulty as they had in the first battle, and it's off to a new world, which Riku can identify as Traverse Town even before the words pop up on the screen.
Oh, look, it's Sora's ~new friends~.]
no subject
[Distracted for a moment from Riku's mood, Kairi reaches over and starts messing the game controller.]
It's that dog! I know that dog. I followed him here.
[She succeeds only in running game!Sora around, getting him attacked by heartless, and triggering a few sequences where Donald and Goofy are looking for Leon.
Kairi pouts. Stupid game.]
no subject
If only Riku could have understood that. Right now, anyway. But he doesn't comment, instead continuing on with the game.]
Pluto? You followed him... here? [That was weird.]
[Speaking of weird. Sora groans. Leon just kicked his sorry ass.]
no subject
Oh, hey, look! It's him! The scene is quick, but it's already enough to illustrate the differences between what had happened to him and what had happened to Sora. Sora had woken up in Traverse Town--a refugee town. He'd woken up in Hollow Bastion, where the only company were the Heartless. And Maleficent.
Sorry, guys, Riku doesn't have much to put in.]
Does that count as the score being 3-0 now?
[Or not.]
no subject
You woke up there?
[That's... Not good.
And then Donald and Goofy land on game!Sora's head.
Kairi can't help it; she laughs.]
no subject
Where is that? [Derp derp, Sora you know exactly where that is.]
no subject
It's called Hollow Bastion.
no subject
[Kairi's still half-smiling; Sora, you dope. You should know that.]
It's where I came from.
[The irony in Riku ending up there is not entirely lost on her. But the battle's over and people are talking. See Riku? It was all to find them! And-
Kairi laughs; Sora's face!]
no subject
[Oi. Looking at that expression makes his cheeks ache in remembrance. HHe rubs his face with a wince.]
So you really did come from Hollow Bastion?
pretend this is a good eyebrow-quirking icon! XD
Okay, my turn now.
[He reaches over to steal the controller back, flipping through all the tutorials and explanations as Kairi's answering Sora. He goes through the town once more and--]
Hey, where's this door lead?
[Look, he's found Merlin's place! And Sora's having another hallucination of Kairi--you seem to be having a problem with those, Sora. Riku -might- be quirking an eyebrow at you for that one.
Brings new meaning to the idea of "I see you everywhere I go."]
no subject
[Kairi doesn't really notice the hallucinations. It makes a weird sort of sense to her; the parts where she shows up are the same parts she vaguely remembers being aware of.
But something else is happening. Wait, that shiny round spot - They've forgotten to save! As Riku goes to leave, Kairi tugs the controller away.]
Wait-!
[Save! Oooh, 'gummi ship?' Kairi grins, and after a few button presses and some instruction screens, she proceeds to crash into every obstacle from Traverse Town to Wonderland.
She is an awesome pilot.]
no subject
K-Kairi! You're gonna crash! [He's half sprawled on her lap, half on the floor, wrestling the controller into his own hands and, miraculously, steering the ship the last half a minute, to Wonderland. Unharmed. Phew.
Okay. That's done; he tosses the controls back to Kairi, fitfully ignoring all those visions. He hadn't chosen to see them. He just.. Had.]
no subject
I don't think you should be pilot, Kairi. I think you let one of the Heartless ships pass by without running into you.
[He's grinning now, and as they make their way through the opening scenes of the world and into an area called the Lotus Forest, things almost seem normal.]
no subject
[Thanks to Sora. Yeah she's going to just keep playing.
Except that she hasn't taken two steps into the Lotus Forest before she's being attacked by some fire-shooting heartless and some giant drum-bellied things which chase her all over the place.
Game!Sora promptly succumbs to darkness.]
Oh.
[Pout.
Kairi offers up the controller. Her turn is clearly done for now.]
no subject
Augh! I hate those stupid Heartless! Stupid barriers.. stupid.. fat heartless.. [Grumble. He hasn't died yet, but- but!]
[Spoke too soon. He whines, falling back dramatically as the game!him floats up, unconscious, asking for a replay.
no subject
At first, Riku seems to be doing okay, rolling to the side and coming up behind one of them and--]
Hey!
[Getting slammed into by the other one. From there it's only a few moments until he dies as well, unable to get out of the way. Siiiiigh. They fail.
Riku frowns at the continue screen, then shakes his head and hands the controller off.]
Kairi, your turn again. Try messing with the equipment or something.
