K--Kairi!

[Riku sounds surprised, but also excited. What has he found?]

You've got to come see this. Deck 12--around the left side of the luggage.

[Riku's on the luggage deck, off to one side sitting on the floor. Scattered around him is an entire collection of interesting things, including a bunch of Disney movies--but what -Riku's- looking at is a game. Yeah, he's holding Kingdom Hearts I and II, and is staring at them both. There's a PlayStation 2 nearby, and you can bet he's planning on figuring out how to play these things.

What in the -worlds- has he found here?]

...Monstro. [Yeah, he remembers that. He remembers calling you out on how crazy you were acting then. That's not the worst of it--almost-bro, you did some stupid stuff because you thought you had lost him as a friend.

Looks like you still have a while to go, before you realize that you're wrong.] You're still being stupid, you know. You and Kairi are my best friends; why do you think I was going to those other worlds in the first place?

[Dummy. But given how you're throwing everything away that ties you to the Light right now, you probably won't listen to him. ... you probably need your older self to smack some sense into you. Or canon has to happen for you to get your wake-up call.

... or you can play those games he didn't notice and see for yourself. Someone had to help, because no one else was.]

[Hey, he did what he had to do. And it's paid off for him--he's found Kairi -twice- now, which is more than Sora could say. He relied on luck, on finding her somewhere out there in all the worlds, while Riku went out and actively -searched-.]

It seemed to me you were more preoccupied with showing off that Keyblade than you were searching for Kairi.

[Kairi has, a bit. But he hasn't asked her to tell him everything and she hasn't offered. So long as he's on the Elegante, he's safe from Maleficent's corruption--so long as he's here, the only darkness he has to deal with is his rivalry with Sora.]

[He winces a little, because... it did sort of seem that way, didn't it? He was a hero ("Junior Hero", he can hear Goofy saying), he wasn't in your shadow, he was doing good things, helping people and keeping people from losing their worlds like they lost theirs--

But then... you were working with Maleficent, weren't you? Taking Alice, Jasmine and Belle away from their homes. Did you even know then that Kairi was one of those seven Princesses that Maleficent was looking for?

His hand goes over his Heart, remembering what happens after Monstro. His next words are said softly, but it's more than audible.] You might have found Kairi first... but she didn't get her Heart back until I lost mine.

[Make what you want of that.]

[And... just as Sora says that, lo and behold does Kairi find her way making it around the corner. She's been trying to figure out her bearings. At least until she had caught the familiar voices and followed them.

But, uh. Well... Looking between the two of them.]

Did I come at a bad time?

[She isn't lost to the fact that you look younger, Riku. But she has a feeling that this is more a more pressing question to ask at the moment. What are you having a spat over now?]

[He would have done whatever it took to get Kairi back her heart, regardless of if he had to work for the light or the dark. Maybe he would have cared; heck, he might have even helped Sora to try and help seal some of the worlds.

But Kairi had come first, not somewhere along the way.

Riku opens his mouth to respond to Sora, what would have hopefully been a properly cutting comment--but then there's a Kairi. And while there's some part of him that knows, -senses- that it's not the Kairi on board with him (what? How are there multiple Kairis now?), it's still -Kairi- and so for that, he swallows the snipe.]

I would have figured something out.

[That doesn't mean he planned to let Sora have the last word, though.

He turns to Kairi. He won't brush it all under the rug (especially when she obviously knows that something's up), but he won't address it, either. He gives her a wry smile.]

No, you're fine, Kairi. What's up?

[The moment he hears Kairi's voice, his expression shifts rather seamlessly from surprise to relief. That joy only gets more pronounced when he notices that, yes, it is you, Kairi, and you're the right age.] Kairi!

[Any and all problems on his end are getting shoved aside in a heartbeat. You don't need to see him sad; it'll only make things worse.] Don't worry, you're here right on time! Now we're all together again--

[And, Sora can't really help but tease, since this is an opportunity for a joke he's never been able to make before.]--even if Riku's a little shorter than he's supposed to be!

[Sorry, boys. The arms are being folded and she's looking squarely at you both-- although she is honestly has to fit the little smile that is twitching at the corner of her lip at Sora's teasing. Addressing Riku:]

Apparently, I'm in for another adventure that involves making sure you two don't have a contest to see who can sneak more crabs down the other one's shirt while they aren't looking. [This seems just a little more serious though. Kairi senses are tingling.]

So, what did I miss? [And you better be honest because she's pretty sick of being left in the dark with these things, okay? She's waited a year for you before-- which, by the way, that only ended when Axel decided to show up, you know?]

[Riku shoots a glare towards Sora for that one--so first you're going to pull everything you did in Monstro, then you're going to remind him of the fact that in spite of everything he did, -you- were the one to wake Kairi up, and now you're going to take a stab at his -height?- Oooh, bad plan, man.

But as he folds his arms across his chest, he responds to Kairi:]

No luck there. I haven't seen any crabs here except in the restaurant sometimes.

[He actually sounds as though he regrets that a little bit!]

But I'm the one that should be asking that. You and Sora come from a year later than I do, right?

[That glare only serves to remind Sora that this isn't the Riku that he had gone through the Door to the Light with, who would've smiled a sad smile and looked at him with only the barest hint of that old sense of humor at a joke like that, before possibly ruffling his hair or giving him a noogie. He only barely manages to suppress the wince, but that 'Sorry' look on his face says enough.

And, he responds to Kairi with more than a little of his usual exaggeration:] What?! No way! I learned my lesson about the crabs last time!

[But Riku's half-statement, half-question makes his expression go serious again. A whole year... yeah, that sounds about right, even if he slept through a lot of it. Who knows what Riku was up to while he was asleep? Or how lonely Kairi must've been on the islands without them?] Yeah... we do.

[What should he say? Would Riku even believe him, or listen to him? This Riku wasn't filled with guilt--he was still stubborn, and jealous, and hurting from what he thought was abandonment.

It... would be difficult. Very difficult. But maybe... he and Kairi could help him stop hurting?]
