[At first, Riku wasn't going to say anything. But being that he is, in fact, an arrogant awesome brat, he can't resist. So when he speaks, you can hear the smirk in his voice.]
Hey. Nice job yesterday, guys. That was a pretty good game.
[And he's even being sincere! How about that.
Riku's a bit bruised up from his bout with Pamela; you won't be able to see the long bruise on his side from where she hit him, but the two dark stripes on his neck from her broom are readily visible, and Riku's not making any attempts to hide them at all. These are his battle scars, his badge of honor; they're something that tells the world that he is one badass kid. Or something, who even really knows.
Riku won't be taking a break though; the game might be over but he's still on the move. You'll be able to find him all over the ship today--he'll be in the forest on deck 3 first, just wandering the forest a bit, then he'll be on deck 12 looking through the luggage for anything that might be helpful in building a tree-house. (Hey, maybe next it'll be a little boat they can sail around the caverns! That might be fun...) He'll be checking out the statue on deck 18 (cautiously, though, things aren't always what they seem), wandering around the flower-field to see if there's actually anything interesting (hey, graves? Hmmm...), and of course hitting up the Coffee Shop for breakfast and later on The Cool and Kuma-Ko for lunch and dinner.
Feel free to run into him anywhere; winning capture the flag has put him in a pretty good mood!]

[Commentlog] Aaaaand now I ship it. GDI Abi!
[Kairi returns the smile and lets the staff fall back under Riku's strike. It's enough to deflect the attack past her, but also allows her to bring the other end of the staff forward toward Riku's middle. It's slow, with no real force behind it. But they're only practising, and she's pleased she at least remembers the basic idea.]
I'll never beat you, but at least this way I can help.
[She's just not that interested in competing to begin with, and she's years behind. But she will help, even if she's told she can't.]
[Commentlog] MUAHAHAHAHAAA~ /BUFFS NAILS
He chuckles at her words, his grin halfway turning to a smirk.]
Well, at least I know there'll be someone I can trust at my back then. Right?
[Commentlog] :| Stop that. The shipping goggles are now glued to my face.
[Kairi's about to say something more, but has to focus on what's going on for a moment. She needs to get her staff between Riku's sword and her side. Or does she?
Kairi brings the staff's end down and across, trying to push Riku's sword-point toward the ground. She then pulls the same end up and tucks it under her arm. The opposite end swings down toward Riku's shoulder.
But she's forgotten to move her feet again, and left her ankles unprotected.]
[Commentlog] >:3 Aw, but it's cute~!
You'll never get anywhere if you don't ever move.
[Commentlog] *quietly sketches ASFLIAHG WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!*
Heh, okay. Um...
[She disengages and steps back, trying to remember how the others had done it back home: Wakka had jumped a lot; Tidus had lunged; Selphie spun around some of the time; and Sora had mostly run around in circles.
None of that was very helpful.
Instead, Kairi decides to focus on moving to attack and defend, rather than moving her staff. She probably won't be able to help it in the end, but at least she won't be standing still.]
Okay!
[And she starts toward Riku, moving the staff in a single-oar rowing motion she might usually use to paddle her boat back home. It makes a kind of figure eight pattern. She's not really sure what she's doing, but it looks nice.]
[Commentlog] AWESOME THINGS, APPARENTLY! <3
Did Samus teach you any sort of drills?
[Probably. He can't imagine why she wouldn't. And while this slow, mock spar might be fun, it might be easier to work through drills so that when the attacks came in an actual spar she could resort to muscle memory in blocking.
Still, Kairi's trying new things instead of just the same old tricks, and that's a good sign.]
[Commentlog]
[No? She's not sure. She really hasn't been practising as much as she should have been.]
They, heh, they weren't really lessons. She just taught me some things while she was practising.
[Instead of jumping away, Kairi moves sideways, away from Riku's sword, and continues forward.
She doesn't really have any better ideas, so she playfully aims an elbow at Riku's middle.]
[Commentlog]
[Riku was going to say more, but when Kairi makes to elbow him in the side, all bets are off. Riku takes a couple quick steps to simultaneously turn and position himself at her back, dropping his sword once it's safely out of the way. With both hands free, he'll make to try and grab Kairi from behind, one arm going around her shoulders from behind and the other to cover the hand on the quarterstaff. Unlike his earlier movements, this is quick and fluid, although he's still being playful, grinning the whole time.]
Oh, no, you don't!
[Commentlog] GLUED TO MY FACE 38
In seconds, Kairi's caught. She twists her hand a little. The staff wobbles from side to side, but she can't get free. She briefly considers biting Riku's arm, but that would actually hurt and they're not really fighting.
She's giggling. She doesn't even realize.]
Hehe, don't I?
[Kairi goes limp. If Riku can't find a way to support her, she'll just drop to the ground and try rolling aside
[Commentlog] CACKLING FOREVER 8>
[When Kairi goes limp, Riku has to let go of her hand to catch her around the waist. But that's okay--he's now going to be attempting to pick her up entirely to throw her over his shoulder! It used to be no problem for him to do so on the islands, and although Kairi's grown since then Riku's still strong.]
[Commentlog] I have mood whiplash from these two threads. It's kind of awesome.
Okay, I think I lost.
[She's still grinning, and she can't resist tugging lightly at Riku's hair.]
[Commentlog] I KNOW, RIGHT? Mood whiplash is AWESOME. 8D
[Ohhh, if she thinks that's the end of it, Kairi's got another thing coming. Riku's going to start walking now, headed towards the pool.]
I know--how about a swim, Kairi?
[There's such an evil grin on his face right now you don't even know.]
[Commentlog] Ow, my phantom funny-bone. D: ... :D
[They're heading for the pool! They're heading for the pool! What are you doing Riku aaah so mean! She does not want to go swimming in her clothes.
Kairi begins trying to flail her way to freedom. She hasn't really thought far enough ahead to think how painful landing on the forest floor would be. She's not getting dumped in the pool!]
[Commentlog] XD; Ooh, that one was rough.
Careful, or I'll drop you!
[Not that he'd do that unless he fell over himself, but the threat is there. Riku takes a little jump to hoist Kairi up into a more manageable position, holding her legs tight to his side so that she can't kick him. Sorry, Kairi, but he doesn't plan on letting go unless he absolutely has to!
The pool's in sight now--they're almost there~]
[Commentlog]
Put me down Rik-Oof!
[The wind's knocked out of her as he hoists her up. Kairi stops flailing and instead clings on as best she can. If she's going in the pool, Riku is coming too!]
[Commentlog]
[Things are a -lot- easier once Kairi stops squirming so much--Riku is able to cover the rest of the distance between them and the pool much more quickly. He has no problems with throwing himself into the pool as well, and so with a laugh, in they both go!]
[Commentlog]
She rubs water out of her face and then looks around for Riku, fully prepared to splash him the moment she spots him above water.]
[Commentlog]
Splash war--go!]
[Commentlog]
[Commentlog]
If Kairi notices he's gone, she'll probably be able to avoid him. If not... well, think fast, Kairi!]
[Commentlog]
When she finally surfaces again, she's still laughing.]
Okay, truce?
[Commentlog]
All right, truce.
[And he reaches out, going to tuck a piece of stray hair behind her ear. He's missed this.]
[Commentlog]
[Kairi beams at him, and then still grinning, starts for the pool's steps, and hopefully - eventually - a towel.]
